WELL certification is the first international building standard focusing on the health and wellbeing of people in buildings. It offers a framework that helps improve the health and well-being of anyone who visits, works in or is in a building or interior. The WELL Building Standard is managed and administered by The International WELL Building Institute (IWBI).
The WELL Building Standard is based on a set of medical research that examines the link between the buildings in which we spend more than 90 percent of our time and the health and wellbeing of their occupants. WELL projects are certified by a third party through the cooperation of IWBI with Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) – a certification body for the LEED green standard.
Projects that seek this type of certification can earn points based on performance results for different strategies, designs, and operational strategies, achieving one of four levels of certification: bronze, silver, gold, or platinum.

It is no news that emotional stress is one of the most common causes of illness today – from headaches, depression to cancer and heart disease. According to a survey of more than 500 employees in the United Arab Emirates, 42% of people felt that their office environment was stressful. Because today’s people spend most of their time indoors, it is essential to eliminate stressors and create an environment that promotes health and well-being.
Many studies point to the impact of the environment on the human psyche, and the associated motivation, productivity or creativity. Elements such as plenty of daylight, proper acoustics, greenery, workplace ergonomics or access to healthy food are repeatedly described by interior users as the most sought after.
According to post-certification surveys, the integrated WELL approach significantly increases satisfaction, productivity, perceived physical or mental health, and reduces turnover, absenteeism or presence in the workplace.

As up to 90% of the company’s operating costs are personnel costs, reducing inefficient work, turnover or incapacity for work and at the same time increasing motivation or productivity represents a significant financial saving for the company.
